The session met Friday evening to discuss the growing concern over COVID-19 and public gatherings. In light of recent information, we’ve decided to suspend all church activity, including Sunday worship, for the next two Sundays (3/15 and 3/22). We will re-evaluate the situation the following week.
We do not do this lightly, as our public worship is the heartbeat of our Christian life. Given the rapid spread of the virus, recommendations to limit public gatherings as a preventative measure, and the makeup of our congregation, the session believed it prudent and loving to cancel public worship.
For the next two Sundays, we encourage everyone to avail themselves of the blessing of private worship. It is not ideal, as God has called us to gather all together, but we can be confident that God blesses the reading of His Word and He hears the prayers of His people in all circumstances. Additionally, the elders are exploring ways to encourage and minister to the church over the coming week.
If anyone needs anything or has any concerns please do let us know.
Had we gathered this week, Pastor Michael would have preached on 1 Peter 1:3-5,
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to his great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Our hope and peace are from our merciful heavenly Father in His Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. Our inheritance is unshakable.
